Jixenwell Events
At Jixenwell Gundogs, our events are all about celebrating working dogs in an enjoyable, inclusive and well-run environment. We specialise in professionally organised gundog scurries and challenge events at UK game fairs and country shows, giving members of the public the opportunity to take part and experience the sport first-hand.
Our events are open to all levels — from complete beginners having their very first go, to more experienced handlers looking for a competitive challenge. We focus on fair play, safety, enjoyment and showcasing the natural ability of working gundogs, while creating a welcoming atmosphere for dogs, handlers, families and spectators alike.
Gundog Scurry Events

Join us at game fairs and country shows across the UK for our popular Gundog Scurry events. Designed to be fun, friendly and accessible, scurries offer the perfect introduction to gundog work while still providing an exciting challenge for more experienced teams.
With timed events and a variety of retrieves, scurries test teamwork, control and speed in a supportive and relaxed setting. Whether it’s your first time having a go or you’re returning to compete, our scurries are all about enjoyment, camaraderie and celebrating the bond between dog and handler.
Jixenwell Challenge Championship
The Jixenwell Challenge Championship brings together the excitement of gundog scurries with the precision of working tests. Running qualifiers throughout the season at selected game fairs and country shows, the Challenge offers a more competitive format for those looking to push themselves and their dogs further.
Spaniels and Any Variety Gundogs compete in separate categories, with the journey culminating in the Jixenwell Challenge Final at the Sandringham Game & Country Fair in September. One outstanding competitor will be crowned the Jixenwell Challenge Champion — a true highlight of the season.

Jixenwell Junior Challenge

The Jixenwell Junior Challenge is designed to inspire the next generation of gundog handlers. Open to children under 15, this friendly and encouraging competition allows young handlers to take part alongside their dogs in a supportive, fun environment.
Junior competitors can qualify throughout the season at our game fair events, with the fastest juniors earning a place in the Junior Challenge Final at the Sandringham Game & Country Fair. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young people to build confidence, develop skills and enjoy the sport while creating lasting memories with their dogs.
